STEM: Marshmallow Towers

August 20, 2025 - Students in Room B1 were presented with a challenge in this STEAM project: To build the tallest free standing tower that can withstand a California 3.0 earthquake (shake desk for 3 seconds).
The 5th grade engineers used geometric figures of choice to build the tallest structure that they can using the materials provided which consist of 50 marshmallows and 50 toothpicks. After 30 minutes of problem solving and dealing with sticky falling marshmallows, Calllie and Olivia N. tied for first place with the height of 12 inches!!! The best part was that at the end, the construction workers get to eat their towers!!! Good job engineers... until next time!
